These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by Sofia Calzavara, Registered Midwife, trading under the brand name Squeeze (“I”, “me”, “my”). By accessing this website, making an enquiry, or booking any service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the website or book services.


1. My Services


I provide independent, midwifery-led services including antenatal care, postnatal care, hypnobirthing education, infant-feeding support, education sessions and one-off consultations. Services may be offered in person or online.

I do not provide intrapartum (labour or birth) care.

Squeeze is a shared brand name. Any birth or intrapartum doula support offered through Squeeze is provided by a separate, non-clinical practitioner, under her own Terms & Conditions. My services are clinical midwifery services and are governed by these Terms only.

My services are designed to run alongside NHS maternity care, not replace it.


2. Professional Status


I am a Registered Midwife and practise in accordance with:

  • The Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code. My pin is 19A0438E

  • Current UK clinical guidance

  • My professional competence and indemnity cover


I am:

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)

  • A member of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM)

  • Professionally indemnified via the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)


3. Scope of Practice

This Scope of Practice relates only to services provided by Sofia Calzavara, Registered Midwife (NMC). For information about doula services, see Meghan Roupell’s page. Services under the Squeeze brand are delivered by independent practitioners, each within their professional scope.


Services:

I am a Registered Midwife and practise within the scope defined by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).


I do:

Provide evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care

Offer education, preparation, reassurance and practical support

Provide infant feeding support (breast and bottle)

Carry out basic midwifery assessments appropriate to community practice

Support informed decision-making

Help navigate NHS maternity pathways

Refer to NHS or specialist services when care needs fall outside my scope


I do not:

Provide intrapartum care

Replace NHS maternity services

Prescribe medication

Diagnose medical conditions

Provide emergency care

Provide psychological therapy

4. Confidentiality

All personal information is treated as confidential and handled in accordance with UK data protection law.

Information will only be shared:

  • With your explicit consent

  • If there is a safeguarding concern

  • Where I am legally required to do so

This aligns with NMC standards and safeguarding legislation. Further detail is outlined in the Squeeze Privacy & GDPR Policy, which applies to all practitioners operating under the Squeeze brand.


5. Appointments, Booking & Payment

An invoice will be sent by email once a booking is agreed.

  • Payment is required in full before the appointment

  • Appointments are confirmed only once payment has been received.

  • Online and in-person sessions are subject to this payment policy.


6. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

I understand that plans change, especially during pregnancy and early parenthood.

  • 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.

  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable.

If I am unable to attend due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered:

  • A rescheduled appointment, or a full refund if we cannot find a suitable time.

  • Late arrivals may result in a shortened appointment, without fee reduction.


7. Travel and visit locations

Home visits are available across South East London and surrounding areas. Travel is included for appointments with south east London.

For visits outside this area, a travel fee may apply to reflect additional time and distance. Any travel costs will always be discussed clearly in advance, so you know exactly what to expect before booking.

I aim to keep my caseload local wherever possible, to ensure continuity of care, flexibility with appointments and sustainable working hours for families and for myself.

8. Website Disclaimer

9. Complaints

I always aim to provide compassionate and respectful care. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your experience then I encourage you to raise this with me directly. If you feel you need to write a formal complaint then this will be acknowledged promptly and handled fairly, in line with NMC guidance.


10. Online Consultations

Online consultations follow the same professional and confidentiality standards as in-person sessions. You are responsible for providing a safe, private environment for online appointments.


11. Liability

  • I do not accept liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential incidents arising from use of information or services. This includes and is not exclusive to: clinical outcomes of pregnancy or birth, changes to birth plans, hospital policies or restrictions.

  • Services are provided “as is” and are complementary to NHS or private care.


12. Changes to These Terms

I reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the site and services after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Website Use & Intellectual Property

These Terms & Conditions apply to all doula services provided by Squeeze ("I", "me", "my"). By booking or engaging my services, you agree to the following terms.


1. Scope of Doula Services

Squeeze provides non-clinical doula support only. This may include emotional, physical, practical, and informational support during pregnancy (antenatal), labour and birth, and the postnatal period.

I do not provide medical, midwifery, or nursing care. I do not perform clinical tasks, diagnose conditions, give medical advice, or make decisions on your behalf.

Clients remain under the care of their chosen healthcare providers (e.g. NHS midwives, obstetricians, GPs) at all times.


2. Relationship to NHS and Other Care Providers

Doula support from Squeeze is intended to complement, not replace, NHS or private medical care.

Clients agree to:

  • Maintain regular contact with their healthcare provider

  • Seek medical advice for any clinical concerns

  • Inform their healthcare provider that they are working with a doula, if appropriate

Squeeze will work respectfully alongside all healthcare professionals.


3. Packages, Services & Availability

Details of doula packages, one-off sessions, virtual support, and additional services are outlined on the Squeeze website and agreed at the time of booking.

Services may include (but are not limited to):

  • Discovery calls

  • Antenatal sessions

  • On-call support

  • Birth attendance

  • Virtual (WhatsApp) support

  • Postnatal visits

Specific inclusions, number of sessions, and duration are confirmed in writing prior to commencement.


4. On-Call Period & Birth Attendance

For packages that include birth attendance:

  • The on-call period typically begins 10 days before the estimated due date (EDD) and continues until the baby is born.

  • Clients agree to notify Squeeze as early as possible when labour begins or if circumstances change.

Birth attendance is subject to:

  • Timely notification by the client

  • Local travel conditions

  • Hospital or birth centre policies

  • Health and safety considerations

While every effort is made to attend births as agreed, attendance cannot be guaranteed in circumstances beyond reasonable control (see Section 11).


5. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate and honest information

  • Communicate changes to pregnancy, care plans, or circumstances promptly

  • Engage respectfully and communicate openly

  • Understand the non-clinical scope of doula support


6. Fees & Payment

  • Fees are clearly outlined at the time of booking

  • A non-refundable booking fee or deposit may be required to secure services

  • Remaining balances must be paid according to the agreed payment schedule

Failure to pay on time may result in suspension or cancellation of services.


7. Cancellations, Changes & Refunds

By the Client:

  • Cancellations must be made in writing

  • Refunds depend on the timing of cancellation and services already provided

  • Deposits are non-refundable

  • Birth attendance fees are generally non-refundable once the on-call period has begun

By Squeeze:

  • In rare circumstances, we may need to cancel or modify services due to illness, emergency, or unforeseen events

  • Where possible, alternative arrangements or partial refunds will be discussed


8. Virtual Support (WhatsApp or Similar Platforms)

Virtual support is:

  • Non-clinical

  • Offered within agreed hours or response times

  • Not a replacement for medical advice or emergency services

Clients agree not to rely on virtual doula support for urgent or emergency medical situations.

9. Postnatal Support

Postnatal visits focus on emotional support, recovery, feeding guidance (non-clinical), and practical reassurance.

We do not provide medical assessments, diagnose feeding issues, or replace care from midwives, health visitors, or lactation consultants.


10. Confidentiality & Data Protection

All personal information shared with Squeeze is treated as confidential and handled in accordance with UK data protection laws.

Information will not be shared without consent unless required by law or where there is a serious safeguarding concern.


11. Limitations of Liability

Squeeze shall not be held liable for:

  • Clinical outcomes of pregnancy or birth

  • Decisions made by healthcare professionals

  • Changes to birth plans

  • Hospital policies or restrictions

  • Circumstances beyond reasonable control (including illness, emergencies, weather, or transport disruption)

Nothing in these terms excludes liability where unlawful to do so.


12. Health, Safety & Boundaries

We reserve the right to:

  • Decline or discontinue services if safety is compromised

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times

Clients agree to respectful communication and behaviour.


13. Intellectual Property

All materials provided by Squeeze (written, digital, or printed) remain the intellectual property of Squeeze and are for personal client use only.


14. Complaints

We aim to provide a supportive, respectful service. If concerns arise, clients are encouraged to raise them directly so they can be addressed promptly and constructively.


15. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
